The Dewey Crowder Associates International Memorial Library is dedicated to preserving the architecture and idealism of Clemmie Dewey Crowder, Jr.
Mr. Crowder was born and raised in Texas, served in the U. S. Navy, and called Mobile Alabama his home for most of his life.
In addition to his architectural business, Dewey Crowder was very active in promoting world peace and international commerce.
Mr. Crowder was frequently asked by the City of Mobile (and others) to speak at functions involving international visitors. He spoke at least five languages and enjoyed meeting people from all over the world.
After designing and overseeing the construction of Riverview Plaza in Mobile Alabama in the early 1980s, Mr. Crowder increased his focus on promoting several development projects.
Many of these development projects centered on connecting international businesses via a network of building complexes sharing common themes and ideologies.
Many of Mr. Crowder’s architectural projects were built in Mobile Alabama:
- Riverview Plaza Hotel
- Riverview Plaza Office Complex
- Spanish Plaza
- Mobile Gas Service Corporation
- Mobile’s Spanish Plaza
- St. Pius Tenth Church
- Central Presbyterian Church
- USS Alabama Admissions Building
- USS Alabama Memorial Park
- Ft. Conde Village and Welcome Center
When Dewey Crowder suffered an almost fatal stoke in the late 1990s and moved to Texas, Mr. Bolton was asked to become curator of the files left behind.
Dewey Crowder did not return to Mobile and passed away in Texas in 2004.
Mr. Girard Frank Bolton, III. worked alongside Dewey Crowder for nearly twenty years and recently began the long process of preserving the architectural history and idealism of architect Dewey Crowder via this web site.
Mr. Bolton serves as Curator and Architectural Historian for DeweyCrowder.org and Dewey Crowder Associates International Memorial Library in Mobile Alabama.
Mr. Bolton encourages you to contribute to preserving Dewey Crowder’s memory by sharing your memories of Dewey Crowder by mailing your letters to GFB3 Consulting, DCAI-Memorial Library Project, Post Office Box 501023, Mobile, Alabama, 36605-1023.
